A SEVERE weather warning has been issued for Perth and the South West as a cold front is expected to bring strong winds and high tides.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the alert this afternoon for people living in or near Geraldton, Northampton, Jurien Bay, Mandurah, Bunbury, Bussleton, Margaret River, Bridgetown and the Perth Metropolitan area.
A strong cold front will move over the South West tomorrow and is expected to bring thunderstorms, strong winds and a heavy rainfall.
The front will hit the Southwest Capes about 8am and move through to the metropolitan area later in the morning.
Showers and thunderstorms with winds of up to 125km/h are predicted.
Abnormally high tides are also expected, which may cause flooding of low lying areas.
The Bureau says that while this is typical weather for this time of the year, the winds may cause damage to property and make road conditions dangerous.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has advised residents store or weigh down loose objects such as outdoor furniture, have an emergency kit handy, ensure pets and animals are in a safe area and move vehicles under cover.
Boat owners should also securely moor their boats.
If your home or property suffers significant damage call the SES on 132 500.
