A 19-month-old baby was taken into state care after receiving fractures to his arms and legs and losing two-thirds of his body weight, police allege.
WA Child Abuse Squad detectives yesterday charged an 18-year-old woman and her 21-year-old de facto partner with failing to protect the child from harm.
It's alleged the baby received multiple fractures to his arms and legs and bruising to his body while in the couple's care.
He also lost about two-thirds of his body weight during a two month period.
The child is now in the care of the Department of Child Protection.
The child's mother, who was 17 at the time, will appear in the Kalgoorlie Children's Court on March 5, while her partner will appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on March 4.
