POLICE say there is no longer any danger posed to Willetton residents, after streets were in lockdown for three hours because of a potential shooting threat.
A bailiff who visited the house at the corner of Albatross Pass and Woodpecker Avenue just after 3pm to repossess items alerted police after hearing one shot fired from within the house.
Officers from the Tactical Response Group swarmed the house at 6pm after there was no response to attempted negotiations.
An elderly man's body was discovered inside the home near the front door.
An internal police investigation into the incident will be conducted.
While police were assessing the potential threat to public safety, nearby residents were asked to remain in their homes, stay away from their windows and follow all directions from police, but a crowd of onlookers gathered in the street behind police roadblocks.
Neighbours have told PerthNow the street is usually quiet. They were unaware of anyone living in the home from which the shot was fired.
