A tagged great white shark was detected just before 5am at Mullaloo beach this morning morning, while a fishermen spotted a 2-metre shark off the coast of Hillarys at about 10.45am.

Thousands flocked to beaches around the Perth metropolitan area to make the most of the warm weather today, which reached a top of 33 degrees just after 3pm.

St John Ambulance was called to City Beach at about 11am after life savers pulled a 32-year-old man from the water with suspected spinal injuries.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth II medical centre for treatment.

Three people were also questioned by police for allegedly stealing bags at Cottesloe beach.
